Closed 1 Dec 2020

Opened 20 Oct 2020

Overview

Surrey County Council would like your views on proposed changes to admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools for September 2022

The consultation on these proposals will run from Tuesday 20 October 2020 to Tuesday 1 December 2020.

Only response forms which are fully completed with the respondent's name and address will be accepted to help eliminate multiple responses and to assess the level of local interest in each proposal.

A full summary of the changes and a copy of the proposed admission arrangements for all community and voluntary controlled schools are set out in the 'Related documents' below.

For further information on how the data you provide will be used, please read the privacy notice section of our website: www.surreycc.gov.uk/your-council/your-privacy. By submitting the survey you indicate that you have considered the privacy notice and agree to take part.

Why your views matter

We have a statutory duty to consult on admission arrangements if we intend to make a change.

The changes being proposed are as follows:

  1. Removal of priority for children who have the school as their 'nearest school' for the majority of community and voluntary controlled schools - so, for most schools, after siblings, priority will be based on straight line distance from the child’s home address to the school
  2. Beauclerc Infant School – proposal to introduce a sibling link between Beauclerc Infant School and Chennestone Primary School
  3. Horley Infant School – proposal to introduce a sibling link between Horley Infant School and Yattendon School
  4. Onslow Infant School - proposal to reduce the Published Admission Number for Reception from 90 to 60

What happens next

Thank you for taking the time to respond to the consultation on admission arrangements for 2022.

After the closing date, responses will be collated and presented to the County Council's decision making Cabinet on 26 January 2021. It will decide whether or not to proceed with the proposed changes as well as determining the admission arrangements for all community and voluntary controlled schools for which no changes are proposed. Cabinet’s decision will then need to be ratified by the full County Council on 2 February 2021. Once determined the final admission arrangements for all community and voluntary controlled schools will be placed on Surrey's website at www.surreycc.gov.uk/admissions
