Do you agree with the proposed change to enlarge Dovers Green School from two forms of entry (2FE) at Reception to three forms of entry at Reception (3FE), to allow for a roll of 270, comprising three classes of 30 pupils in each year group, effective from September 2016.

We received one response to the consultation, who didn't know whether they agreed or disagreed with the proposal; they expressed concern regarding continued inclusion of children with additional needs.

We did

Surrey County Council's Cabinet Member for Schools, Skills and Educational Achievement has approved the change; Surrey County Council will undertake building and refurbishment works, subject to planning approval. From September 2016, Dovers Green School will have a PAN of three forms of entry (3FE) at Reception. The total capacity of the school will be permanently increased from 168 to 270 pupils. Due to bulge classes currently being accommodated, the school will reach its new capacity of 270 places in September 2016.

Overview

Surrey County Council and Dovers Green School have been working together to look at the increasing demand for primary school places in Reigate and how the school can best meet these changing needs in the future.

Our proposal is that Dovers Green School changes from a two form entry infant school to a three form entry infant school. The school in its new form would be designed to serve children across the Reigate area.

The school has already taken a bulge year in 2014/15, and will accept a further bulge year in 2015/16.  The school would therefore become a three form of entry infant school in September 2016, when it would accept three Reception classes, and reach its new capacity of 270 places.  The school's current published admissions number (PAN) IS 56.  Under this proposal, the PAN would increase to 90 from September 2016.

Additional permanent classrooms would be built on the school site to accommodate the additional pupils.  The cost of the propopsed project would be funded through Surrey County Council's schools Basic Need Capital Programme which is included in the 2015-21 Medium Term Financial Plan.
