Furzefield Primary School

Overview

Surrey County Council and Furzefield Primary School have been working together to look at the need for primary school places in the Merstham area and how the school can best meet these changing needs in the future.

Our proposal is that Furzefield Primary School changes from a two form of entry primary school to a three form of entry primary school. The school currently has capacity for 420 children; in its new form it would increase its overall capacity to 630 children.

We are proposing that these changes start to take place from September 2016 when a third Reception class would join the school.  From 2016 the school would increase its Reception published admissions number (PAN) from 60 to 90.  The school would continue to grow incrementally, becoming a full three form entry primary school in 2022, when the 2016 Reception cohort reaches Year 6.

Additional accommodation would be provided to enable the school to operate as a three form of entry primary school on its present site.
