Overview
Hawkedale Infants - A Foundation School and Surrey County Council have been working together to consider making a significant change to Hawkedale Infants by expanding the school from a single form of entry (1FE) infant school to a single form of entry (1FE) all through primary school. The governing body would like to expand the school which would provide benefits for the local community whilst increasing the number of school places in the Sunbury on Thames area.
Our proposal is that Hawkedale Infants changes from a single form entry infant school to a single form entry all through primary school. The school in its new form would be designed to serve children across the Sunbury area.
We are proposing that these changes start to take place from September 2017. This would mean that for a period of time the school would fill up incrementally, finally becoming a full 1FE primary school at September 2020.
This proposal provides Surrey County Council and the governing body with the opportunity to remodel the accommodation. The site covers 0.6 hectares, which is considered sufficient by the Department of Education to support a 1FE all through primary school. Four new classrooms would be based near the existing footprint of the school. Capital costs would be met by Surrey County Council.
