We received 100 responses to the survey, 80 of which agreed with the proposal (80%). Twelve responses disagreed, and four didn’t know.

We did

The Surrey County Council (SCC) Cabinet Member for Schools, Skills and Educational Achievement has approved the change; SCC will undertake building and refurbishment works, subject to planning approval. In 2017, West Ewell’s Reception PAN will reduce to 60 places, and pupils who were in Y2 in 2016 will be able to stay on in Y3. For 2016, SCC is proposing an in year variation to reduce the 2016 PAN to 60.

Overview

Surrey County Council, together with West Ewell Infant and Nursery School, Danetree Junior School and Ewell Grove Infant and Nursery School, have been working together to look at the increasing demand for primary school places in the Ewell area and how these schools can best meet these changing needs in the future.

Our proposal is that:

West Ewell Infant and Nursery school changes from a 4FE infant school to a 2FE all through primary school.  The proposed change would take effect from September 2017, when it would admit 60 pupils in Reception, and retain its first Year 3 cohort of pupils.  By September 2020, West Ewell Primary School would have pupils in every primary year group.

Danetree Junior School changes from a four form of entry (4FE) junior school to a 4FE all through primary school with a nursery.  The proposed change would take effect from September 2016, when it would admit 90 pupils in Reception.  In September 2017 it would admit up to 120 Reception pupils.  By September 2018, Danetree Primary School would have pupils in every primary year group.

Ewell Grove Infant and Nursery School changes from a 2.3 form of entry (2.3FE) infant school to a 2FE all through primary school.  The proposed change would take effect from September 2017, when it would retain its first Year 3 cohort of pupils.  By September 2020, Ewell Grove Primary School would have pupils in every primary year group.

Works will be undertaken on all three school sites to provide appropriate facilities, which will be funded by Surrey County Council.
