Early Years Funding Proposal Consultation 2021-22

Closed 27 Sep 2020

Opened 7 Sep 2020

Overview

Surrey County Council are committed to engaging with the Early Years Sector and are keen to gain your views about the Early Years funding proposal for 2021/22. We would like you to answer the following questions in relation to the delivery of Early Years Funded Entitlement in 2021/22. The full principle paper is attached for your information.

Summary

In 2021/22 we are not proposing any changes to the key principles of Surrey’s approach to early years funding, we propose to continue to pass through 95% for 3 and 4 year old funding and to retain 5%, centrally retained funds. We will continue to pass through 100% of funding for 2 year olds.

DfE funds Surrey for the Early Years Funded Entitlement for 3 and 4 year olds at an hourly rate and funds disadvantaged two year olds at a separate, and higher, hourly rate.

We propose to increase the base rate for 3 and 4 year olds by between 5p and 8p, over and above any increase provided by DfE and to increase deprivation funding by the same proportion as any increase provided by DfE.
