Epsom & Ewell High School

Overview

Surrey County Council and Epsom & Ewell High School have been working together to look at the need for secondary school places in the Ewell area and how the school can best meet these changing needs in the future.

Our proposal is that Epsom & Ewell High School initially changes from an eight form of entry secondary school to a nine form of entry secondary school in September 2019, then changes again to become a 10 form of entry secondary school in September 2021. The school currently has capacity for 1,200 children in Years 7 to 11, plus approximately 120 students in the sixth form; as a 10 form of entry secondary school it would increase its overall capacity to 1,500 children in Years 7 to 11, plus sixth form.

We are proposing that these changes start to take place from September 2019 when a ninth Year 7 class would join the school.  From 2019 the school would increase its Year 7 published admissions number (PAN) from 240 to 270.  From 2021 the school would increase its Year 7 published admissions number (PAN) from 270 to 300.  The school would continue to grow incrementally, becoming a full ten form of entry secondary school in 2025, when the 2021 Year 7 cohort reaches Year 11.

Additional accommodation would be provided to enable the school to operate as a 10 form of entry secondary school on its present site.
