Proposed closure of Green Oak CofE Primary School and Nursery (Informal Consultation Stage)

Closed 16 Apr 2018

Opened 5 Mar 2018

Overview

Surrey County Council and the Diocese of Guildford are proposing to cease to maintain Green Oak CofE Primary School and Nursery, with effect from 31 August 2018.

Why your views matter

Following its inadequate Ofsted judgement in January 2017, the school is subject to a Directive Academy Order from the Office of the Regional Schools Commissioner (RSC). The effect of the Order is that the school must be placed within a multi-academy trust (MAT) to secure its future. As no appropriate MAT has been identified to take the school forward, it is necessary for the Council to undertake consultation on the future provision at the school.

Next steps:

Proposals of this nature require a statutory process to be followed, of which this initial phase of consultation is the first stage. If, taking into account the responses to this stage of consultation, it is decided to proceed, the next stage of the process is a formal 4-week ‘Representation’ period, including the publication of statutory notices. The Leader of Surrey County Council would then review the responses to the statutory notices and determine whether to proceed with the proposal.

Surrey County Council and the Diocese of Guildford would like to seek your views on this proposal. The Related Documents below contain the detailed proposal.

Please let us know what you think about the proposal

- either by completing the Online Survey

- or by using the response form in the Related Documents below.

The deadline for returning/submitting consultation responses is 5pm on Monday 16 April 2018.

A public meeting is planned at Green Oak CofE Primary School on 14 March 2018 at 6pm.

All are welcome to attend.
