Following the publication of the statutory notice, a total of 256 responses were received during the consultation period which closed at 5pm on Friday 22 June 2018, with 98% disagreeing with the proposal.

On Tuesday 17 July 2018, the Leader of the Council was asked to determine whether to proceed with the proposal to close Ripley CofE Primary School.

It was agreed that the proposal to close the school be approved.

On Tuesday 17 July 2018, the Leader of the Council was asked to determine whether to proceed with the proposal to close Ripley CofE Primary School, taking into account the option of a collaboration with Shere CofE Infant School, as detailed in the supplementary agenda.

It was agreed that the proposal to close the school be approved.

Overview

Surrey County Council in consultation with the Diocese of Guildford, is proposing to discontinue Ripley CofE Primary School, with effect from 31 August 2018. 

Why your views matter

Notice is hereby given in accordance with section 15 of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 (as amended by the Education Act 2011) and the School Organisation (Establishment and Discountinuance of Schools) Regulations 2013 that Surrey County Council, in consultation with the Diocese of Guildford, intends to discontinue the following Voluntary Controlled school with effect from the 31 August 2018:

Ripley CofE Primary School, Wentworth Close, Woking GU23 6ED

All children attending Ripley CofE Primary School at the time the decision is determined would be offered places at alternative schools in the area. The school currently has 38 children on roll, 29 of which will require primary school places in September 2018.

Support with home to school transport would be provided for eligible pupils provided they meet the criteria, which can be found on the Surrey County Council website at: https://www.surreycc.gov.uk/schools-and-learning/schools/school-transport/under-16-transport-to-school. Consideration would also be given to individual circumstances.

Surrey County Council is publishing the proposal.  The Council will implement the proposal with the Diocese of Guildford. The proposal is not related to any other school organisation proposal which has been or is about to be published.
