Local Transport Review- Confirmation of Changes

Surrey County Council’s Local Transport Review public consultation closed on 14 March 2016. The consultation summary report was made available in April 2016, which summarised the feedback received from those who had their say on proposed changes to local bus services. This feedback was carefully analysed and was considered when drawing up the final proposals with bus operators. 

Cabinet, the council’s main decision making body, approved the proposed changes to local bus services at its meeting on 24 May 2016. This will ensure that vital savings are made, whilst maintaining as many of the services as possible which residents rely upon most.

What are the changes coming into effect?

Please note, if your bus service is not included, no changes are being planned by Surrey County Council or have been notified by the operator, at the time of publication. To check for any later updates, please visit www.surreycc.gov.uk/buses.

When will the changes be introduced?

These changes will come into effect from Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 September 2016.

Where and when will new timetables be available?

New timetables will be available from August 2016. These can be found:

• Online on the bus operator websites and via their own timetable publications
• Online at www.surreycc.gov.uk/buses and www.traveline.info/se
• By calling Traveline on 0871 200 2233 (Calls cost 12p per minute plus your phone company’s access charge)
• In Surrey County Council’s Bus Guide booklets, available from libraries, local council offices and other usual outlets
• At bus stops

Why are changes being made to local bus services?

These changes are being made as part of the second phase of Surrey County Council’s local transport review, in order to make sure the bus services that are used the most can keep running in the face of huge funding pressures.

In making changes, the Council has considered feedback from more than 2,600 residents and stakeholders on proposed changes to services. Some of the original proposals have been modified for the better, as we have listened and acted where there were strong local concerns. Some of the changes also mean making improvements to services.
