A2022 Fir Tree Road, Banstead - Proposed banned U-Turn
Overview
Thank you for your interest in our banned U-turn proposals on the A2022 Fir Tree Road, Banstead.
The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.
The proposal:
It is proposed to change the existing ‘No Right Turn’ restriction on the A2022 Fir Tree Road, Banstead Eastbound carriageway, in the vicinity of the junction with Warren Road to a ‘No U-turn’ restriction.
1. This proposal has arisen due to residents concerns of vehicles performing a U- turn manoeuvre once they pass the central reservation for the junction with the A240 Reigate Road. The current ‘No right turn’ restriction has been found to be no longer fit for purpose, and so the Highway Operations & Commissioning Manager, under delegated authority, has agreed that the restriction should be altered to be a ‘No U-turn’ restriction.
2. This proposal will allow the enforcement by the local police to prevent vehicles from performing this dangerous manoeuvre at this location, reducing the risk of vehicle collisions
