Blighton Lane Seale Prohibition of Heavy Commercial Vehicles

Closed 14 Oct 2022

Opened 16 Sep 2022

Overview

Thank you for your interest in our prohibition of heavy commercial vehicle proposals in Blighton Lane, Seale.

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The proposal:

The Seale and Sands Parish Council requested that a weight limit restriction is introduced on the entire length of Blighton Lane. As a result, the County Councillor requested that such a restriction is investigated and is introduced if appropriate. The road is narrow and there are residential properties, which makes it unsuitable for large vehicles using the road.

Surrey County Council officers have investigated this issue and discussed this informally with the police and stakeholders. There are already width restriction in the vicinity. It is proposed to introduce the weight limit restriction in Blighton Lane and extend it further in due course. This will make it clearer to HGV drivers that they cannot use the residential road as a through route to a destination beyond the area. Following a site visit by officers and a subsequent investigation, it has been concluded that the weight limit restriction should be introduced. This should lessen the amount of HGVs using the road as a shortcut.

The above proposal will be advertised in the local press (The Surrey Advertiser). County, Borough Councillors and stakeholders will be consulted. The police have already been consulted and they support the proposal.

If you would like to object, support, or comment on the proposal, please use the Online Survey linked at the bottom of the page, or alternatively, write to:
