Overview

Thank you for your interest in our Traffic calming measures proposals in Castle Hill Guildford

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The proposal:

During the last financial year there have been a number of additional new requests for the introduction of road tables in certain roads of which one was on Castle Hill. As a result of an Infrastructure Delivery and Transportation Working Group meeting, held in March 2021, it was agreed to include this traffic calming measure in the current road safety schemes programme.

There have been several site meetings with local residents, County Councillor, Guildford Borough and SCC officers to investigate. There are residential properties in Castle Hill with accesses and some residents complained about speeding vehicles.

There are width and height restrictions in Castle Hill. However, it appears that some larger vehicle drivers ignore these. It is expected that the road tables will help in reduction in vehicles’ speed and deter some drivers using the road as a short cut.

The above proposal will be advertised in the local press (The Surrey Advertiser). County and Borough Councillors, Parish Council, stakeholders and the police will be consulted.
