Overview

Thank you for your interest in our Pedestrianisation proposals in Duke Street, Woking.

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The proposal:

Description - The pedestrianisation of Duke Street between Maybury Road to the southern side of the junction with Locke Way.

Reason - The pedestrianisation of the southern sections of Duke Street has been proposed as part of the landscaping improvement to the west of the adjacent large office development (Dukes Court). These revisions to the Dukes Court include the relocation of the car park access to the eastern side in Stanley Road. On this basis, the general access to the southern section of Duke Street, where the current access is located, will no longer be required. This will allow for a landscaped pedestrianisation which will remove unnecessary traffic movements, easing access and improving safety for pedestrians on route to the town centre and the station from the east.
