Laleham Village 20mph Zone and Traffic Calming Measures Proposal
Overview
Thank you for your interest in our 20mph Zone and Traffic Calming proposals in Laleham Village.
The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.
The proposal:
Surrey County Council is proposing to introduce a 20mph zone with associated traffic calming features on various roads in Laleham.
The following roads are proposed for the 20mph zone and to include traffic calming measures in the form of road tables and road cushions
• (B376) Shepperton Road, Laleham – from the existing 30mph/40mph speed terminals, westbound into the village
• (B376/B377) The Broadway, Laleham – full length
• (B377) Ashford Road, Laleham – from The Broadway to outside 115 Ashford Road
• (B376) Staines Road, Laleham – from The Broadway to outside 37 Staines Road
The following additional roads are proposed to be included within the 20mph zone but will not include any traffic calming measures
• (D3311) Ferry Lane, Laleham – from the junction with Thames Side to Shepperton Road
• (D3314) Thames Side, Laleham – from the junction with Ferry Lane to Vicarage Lane
• (D3313) Blacksmith Lane, Laleham – entire Length
• (D3313) Vicarage Lane, Laleham – entire length
• (D3312) Grange Place, Laleham
Local representation has suggested that a reduction in speed of traffic through the area would be beneficial in terms of promoting safer roads and is supported by the local community.
This scheme is being promoted to help improve road safety and accessibility for all road users, including pedestrians and cyclists and will help to preserve and improve the amenities within the area. This will make the Village more pleasant for those accessing local facilities.
A speed survey was commissioned, and the results were compliant with Surrey County Council’s Setting Local Speed Limits Policy for a 20mph Zone.
Spelthorne Joint Committee formally approved this on 21 March 2022.
Therefore, Surrey County Council proposes the introduction of a 20mph zone with traffic calming measures.
