London Road, North Merstham 40mph Speed Limit Proposal
Overview
Thank you for your interest in our 40mph Speed Limit Proposal in London Road, North Merstham.
The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.
The proposal:
It is proposed that a speed limit reduction from 50mph to 40mph is introduced to the A23 London Road North between the junction with the D1158 Harps Oak Lane and a point 50m South of the Southern boundary of property No. 170, London Road North.
This proposal is in conjunction with the speed limit reduction National Highways are doing on the M23 and the section of the A23 which falls within their network, where the section of the A23 which passes through Hooley will be reduced from 40mph to 30mph.
It has been agreed by the Local County Councillor and Surrey Police that 40mph would be a more appropriate speed for vehicles approaching the section of the A23, Hooley which is to be reduced to 30mph.
If you would like to object, support, or comment on the proposal, please use the Online Survey linked at the bottom of the page, or alternatively, write to:
