Overview

Thank you for your interest in our One-Way and Cycle Lane proposals in Maybury Road, Woking.

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The proposal:

One-way traffic only in the westbound direction along Maybury Road, between the junction with Stanley Road and Duke Street, with a contraflow cycle lane in the eastbound direction from Duke Street.

Reason – The relocation of the Dukes Court’s vehicular access to Stanley Road and the pedestrianisation of the southern section of Duke Street removes the need for vehicles to turn left onto Maybury Road from Duke Street. This allows the section of Maybury Road between Stanley Road and Duke Street to become one-way westbound for vehicular traffic. In addition, the freeing up of road space allows the provision of a contraflow cycle lane in the eastbound direction, continuing the existing facilities along the Broadway towards those proposed in Stanley Road to the east.
