Meath Green Lane, Horley, traffic calming

Overview

Thank you for your interest in our traffic calming proposals in Meath Green Lane, Horley. 

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The proposal:

Following Planning Permission for the North West Sector, known as Westvale Park, a new junction configuration is planned, between Meath Green Lane, Webber Street, and the newly constructed Horley Eastern Access Road. This is to be implemented as part of the Horley North West Sector scheme later this year.

The current speed limit on this section of Meath Green Lane is 40mph. It does have a section that is 20 mph already to the south.

Webber Street is a 20mph zone and the Eastern Access Road is to have a 20mph speed limit, at this location.

As part of the implementation of the new junction, a reduction on the speed limit along Meath Green Lane (changing from 40mph and 30mph to 20mph) has been agreed with the Local Highway Authority. This section of road will be the subject of Traffic Calming.

Also, the existing bus gate, which was installed temporarily on the northern junction, between Meath Green Lane and Webber Street, will be removed. The new bus gate will be installed on its permanent location on a new junction north of Landen Park, between Meath Green Lane and the southern leg of Webber Street, (which is still currently closed to the public).

The temporary Bus Gate access road at Webber Street will only link into the Eastern Access Road, with only straight-ahead movements permitted. Similarly, Meath Green Lane vehicles will not be permitted to turn into the development sites, i.e. straight ahead only will be allowed.

All these works are divided in three elements of works and require the relevant Traffic Regulation Order so that it can be enforced.
