Mole Valley Rural Roads Speed Limit Area 1 Proposals
Overview
Thank you for your interest in our Speed Limit proposals in Mole Valley Rural Roads.
The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.
The proposal:
It is proposed to reduce the existing speed limits along several lengths of the rural areas within Mole Valley which are currently subject to derestricted speed limits. The lengths of carriageway cover an area bounded to the west of the A24 and to the south of the A25 within Mole Valley and with the boundary with Guildford Borough Council to the east of Shere.
The proposals reduce the existing derestricted speed limit to either 50mph, 40mph, 30mph or 20mph speed limits.
Surrey County Council engineers raised concerns about various collisions, vehicle speeds and safety concerns within the rural Mole Valley area. A speed limit assessment has been carried out within the Mole Valley rural area (Area 1), following the processes set out in Surrey County Council’s Policy Setting Local Speed Limits. A reduction of the speed limits in the above sections of highway complies with the policy and is supported by Surrey Police and local Members to be reduced to relevant speed limits.
