Ockham Road South, East Horsley - Road Tables

Closed 10 Feb 2022

Opened 21 Jan 2022

Overview

Thank you for your interest in our Road Tables proposals in Ockham Road South, East Horsley.

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The proposal:

During the last financial year there have been a number of additional new requests for the introduction of a road table in certain roads, one of which was on Ockham Road South. As a result of an Infrastructure Delivery and Transportation Working Group meeting, held in March 2021, it was agreed to include this traffic calming measure in the current road safety schemes programme.

There have been several personal injury collisions in recent years on Ockham Road South near its junction with Forest Road. Some drivers travelling on the road in a northerly direction towards the village centre, do not slow down at the Forest Road bend and junction. The sign on the island at the Ockham Road South and Forest Road junction has been damaged several times.

A request for traffic calming measures in Ockham Road South was requested by the East Horsley Parish Council and some residents. The SCC Road Safety Team has also highlighted the safety issue at this junction.

The installation of a road table on Ockham Road South will reduce the speed of vehicles travelling in the vicinity of the bend and the Forest Road junction.

The above proposal will be advertised in the local press (The Surrey Advertiser). County and Borough Councillors, Parish Council, stakeholders and the police will be consulted.
