Overview
Thank you for your interest in our Proposed Provision of a Zebra Crossing on D4001 Southway, Guildford.
The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.
The proposal:
As part of the Countywide ITS schemes for 2025, Surrey County Council is proposing to install a zebra crossing outside Guildford Grove Primary School.
There have been several concerns raised by residents and Local Member that vehicles are speeding and difficulties of pedestrians crossing in Southway, Guildford. Speed surveys were carried out in Southway between Pond Medow and Southway Roundabout. The results indicate that the speed limit in this section can be reduced to 20mph and suitable for a zebra crossing.
A reduction in the speed limit to 30mph to 20mph on this section comply with the policy and is supported by the Police.
