Overview

Thank you for your interest in our 20mph speed limit proposals in Stratton Road Area Sunbury-on-Thames. 

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The proposal:

Surrey County Council is proposing to formally legalise the existing maximum speed limit of 20 miles per hour in the vicinity of Stratton Road, Ravendale Road, Rooksmead Road and Sunmead Road, Sunbury-on-Thames.

Surrey County Council, discovered that the current 20mph speed limit had no legal backing. The local residents are in favour of keeping the 20mph as it has had a positive impact in terms of improving safety and safety and reducing vehicle speeds.  

A speed survey was commissioned and the results were compliant with Surrey County Council’s Setting Local Speed Limits Policy for a 20 mile per hour speed limit.

Spelthorne Joint Committee formally approved this on 28th July 2021.

Therefore Surrey County Council proposes the introduction of signs and road markings for a 20 mph reducing the speed limit to 20mph.
