The Avenue, Sunbury-On-Thames - Zebra Crossing

Closed 24 Mar 2023

Overview

Thank you for your interest in our Zebra Crossing proposals in The Avenue, Sunbury-On-Thames.

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The proposal:

The zebra crossing is intended to aid the movement of pedestrians to and from the school over the D6327 The Avenue, so as to promote the use of alternative modes to the private car and alleviate traffic congestion around the school.

The location of the zebra crossing has been chosen to serve those children living south of the school that would travel via The Avenue and beyond. This includes a large proportion of the school catchment.

Traffic calming measures in the form of road cushions are proposed to support the zebra crossing on both the south and north approach on The Avenue. It is believed the introduction of road cushions will help reduce vehicle speeds as they approach the junction with Manor Lane and will benefit all road users using this route.

If you would like to object, support, or comment on the proposal, please use the Online Survey linked at the bottom of the page, or alternatively, write to:
