The Golden Boot Challenge - Parents

Closed 4 Feb 2019

Overview

As part of the Surrey Schools Air Quality Programme ran by Surrey County Council throughout this academic year, we are updating The Golden Boot Challenge website to corporate elements of air quality and health. Please find the link to the webpage: https://www.saferoutestoschools.com/gbc/index.php.

What is the Golden Boot Challenge?

During the whole month of June, pupils are encouraged to travel sustainably to and from school by walking, cycling/scooting, park & stride or using public transport instead of using the car. At the beginning of the school day, teachers record how pupils in each class travel to school in June through an in class ‘hands-up’ survey.

To update and modernise this process, a few ideas have been developed to record how you and your child/children travel to school on your smart phone. This would make the recording of how each pupil travelled to school more automatic and save teachers time.

We would also like to incorporate a new active/healthy travel and air quality elements into the challenge so pupils are educated and motivated even more to travel sustainably.

Please answer the questions below, all your answers will be anonymous.
