Overview
Thank you for your interest in our Provision of a 20mph Speed Limit proposals in Waterside Drive, Walton-On-Thames.
The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.
The proposal:
Statement of Reasons for Speed Limit Reduction in Waterside Drive
The current speed limit in Waterside Drive is 30mph. Waterside Drive is a long straight road with no speed reducing features at present. The planning consent for the new secondary school, Walton Heathside, Waterside Drive, requires the reduction of speed in Waterside Drive outside the school to 20mph for the safety of children attending the school. The proposed change in speed limit will be supported by the provision of two Raised Tiger Crossings that will allow for cyclists and pedestrians to cross Waterside Drive safely and a raised table at the junction of Waterside Drive and Terrace Road, that will provide a safe crossing point and introduce slower speeds at the junction.
