Alternative Provision guidance - parent carer feedback form

Overview

The Alternative Provision (AP) team at Surrey County Council (SCC) have been working in collaboration with Family Voice Surrey and parent carers to draft new AP guidance. This guidance aims to explain more clearly:

• What exactly AP is
• The different types of AP and their benefits
• Who is responsible for arranging AP

Before this is finalised, the AP team at SCC are seeking feedback to ensure the new guidance is clear, easy to understand and includes the information that families need.

Two online discussion groups (24 June and 3 July 2025), hosted by Family Voice Surrey and the AP team at SCC, focused on how the draft AP guidance can be improved. 

We would like anyone who registered for the groups above to also have the opportunity to provide your views in written format here. This is so we hear from as many of you as possible, in case you weren't able to join on the day, or if you have had further suggestions you wanted to share.

Why your views matter

By getting involved you are helping to represent what parent/carers want from the guidance, ensuring it is clear and accessible, and enabling the AP team at SCC to ensure that it reflects parent’s needs.

The form breaks down the guidance by section, with a rating question and open text field for each one (each is optional, so if you only want to provide suggestions for one specific section, please skip the remainder) and an 'About you' section to help us check we are hearing from a representative group of our all our parent carers.
