Proposed change of age range and extension of premises at St Paul's CofE Infant School, Tongham

Closed 5 Nov 2023

Opened 18 Sep 2023

Overview

Surrey County Council and the Governing Body of St Paul's Church Of England Infant School, Tongham are proposing to change the age range of the school from a one-form entry infant school to a one-form entry primary school and expand their premises to accommodate the additional children from September 2025.

Simultaneously, it is also proposed that the school lowers their age range to accommodate a nursery on site (ages 2 to 4) from 15 April 2024.

Why your views matter

It is proposed that St Paul's Church Of England Infant School's age range is changed to accommodate ages 4-11, becoming a 1FE primary school. This would allow for a roll of 210 pupils across the school.

It is also proposed that St Paul's Church Of England Infant School's offer a 60-place nursery provision, with a view to potentially expand to 68 over time, dependent on the needs of the community.

Further building work will be required on the site of the school to provide appropriate accommodation for the additional pupils.

If the proposal to expand St Paul’s CofE Infant School to a primary school of 210 places is successful for September 2025, the admissions authorities of Waverley Abbey Junior School and Walsh CofE Junior School may opt to submit an in year variation request to the Office of the Schools Adjudicator to vary the admission arrangements for 2025, to remove St Paul’s as a named feeder school. For Walsh CofE Junior School, currently the in year variation request would be submitted by Surrey County Council. As an academy, the decision would fall to the Good Shepherd Trust to submit the in year variation request for Waverley Abbey Junior School.

We are now undertaking a consultation on the proposal to change the age range of St Paul's Church Of England Infant School from a one-form entry infant school to a one-form entry primary school and expand their premises to accommodate the additional children.
