Aldershot Road, Guildford - Puffin Crossing Proposal

Closed 11 Aug 2023

Opened 14 Jul 2023

Overview

Thank you for your interest in our Puffin Crossing proposal in Aldershot Road, Guildford.

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The proposal:

During the last financial year there have been several concerns raised by residents and Local Members that vehicles are not stopping at the zebra crossing while pedestrians are crossing at the zebra crossing. Requests for upgrading the zebra crossing into a signalised crossing were made by residents and local member.

Several site visits were carried out by Surrey Highways Officers, and it was brought to the officers’ attention that people did not feel safe when crossing Aldershot Road especially during the school dropping off and picking up times.

A technical assessment was carried out in June 2022, and it was recommended that a puffin crossing should be considered at this location.

The above proposal will be advertised in the local press (The Surrey Advertiser). County and Borough Councillors, Parish Council, stakeholders and the police will be consulted

If you would like to object, support, or comment on the proposal, please use the Online Survey linked at the bottom of the page, or alternatively, write to:
