Avenue de Cagny, Pirbright - Road Table Proposal

Closed 20 Aug 2021

Opened 23 Jul 2021

Overview

Thank you for your interest in our Road Table proposals in Avenue de Cagny, Pirbright.

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The proposal:

The proposal is to improve facilities for pedestrians to cross Avenue de Cagny. Currently pedestrians who wish to cross the road between the public car park and the road junction with A324 The Green, use an uncontrolled crossing point near the bell mouth junction. The car park is used by drivers for many reasons but does include parents taking their children to and from Pirbright Village Primary School, as well as patients accessing Pirbright Surgery. Crossing at this location is made difficult due to vehicles waiting the exit Avenue de Cagny obstructing the route and vehicles entering the junction at speed. It is proposed to relocate the uncontrolled crossing point away from the junction and onto a road table, as well as tighten the radius of the kerbs on the entry into Avenue de Cagny. These proposals are intended to assist pedestrians crossing by reducing the speed of vehicles and reduce the likelihood of vehicles blocking the pedestrian route across the road.
