Chertsey Road, Oyster Lane and connecting roads (north of Parvis Road), Byfleet - Traffic Management Proposals
Overview
Background
The introduction of traffic management measures is being considered in response to concerns raised by residents about the roads being used by through traffic to travel between the busy A245 Parvis Road to the south and A318 Oyster Lane/Barnes Wallis Drive to the north. Concerns have been raised about traffic volumes, speeds, and road safety.
The proposal
We have developed 6 alternative options for changes to the existing road network:
Option 1a – One-way lengths of road, allowing motor vehicles to travel in one direction only (cyclists will still be able to travel in both directions). Through route maintained.
Option 1b – as Option 1a but with one of the lengths of one-way removed and the addition of a road closure for motor vehicles (cyclists can still pass through in both directions). Through route maintained.
Option 2a – Two road closures for motor vehicles (cyclists can still pass through). Through route maintained.
Option 2b – Three road closures for motor vehicles (cyclists can still pass through). Through route maintained.
Option 3 – Two road closures preventing ANY through traffic, including residents.
Option 4 - "Do nothing"- Leave roads unchanged
