Clay Lane Jacobswell –Traffic Calming Proposal

Closed 6 Jan 2022

Opened 10 Dec 2021

Overview

Thank you for your interest in our Traffic Calming proposals in Clay Lane, Jacobswell.

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The proposal:

During the last financial year there have been a number of additional new requests for the introduction of road tables in certain roads of which one was on Clay Lane. As a result of an Infrastructure Delivery and Transportation Working Group meeting, held in March 2021, it was agreed to include this traffic calming measure in the current road safety schemes programme. Over several years, there have been several road traffic collisions on Clay Lane in the vicinity of its junctions with Jacobs Well Road and Blanchards Hill. SCC officers visited the site to investigate and discussed the issue with the police. Local residents and the County Councillor requested that traffic calming measures are considered on a section of Clay Lane. Drivers have difficulty exiting from Jacobs Well Road onto Clay Lane. The installation of road tables will reduce the speed of vehicles in the vicinity of the junctions and help drivers to exit Jacobs Well Road onto Clay Lane.
