Overview

Thank you for your interest in our Parking and Road Table proposals in Heath Road, Brooklands Lane and Waverley Road, Weybridge.

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The proposal:

No Waiting at any time in Brooklands Road and Waverley Lane

The double yellow lines extensions on both Brooklands Lane and Waverley Road are required as part of a scheme to create a safer place for on-road cyclists to travel between the Brooklands Lane entrance/exit of the new cycle path along Heath Road, and a signed ‘quiets road’ route planned through to Weybridge town centre via Waverley Road, Melrose Road and the town paths adjacent to Churchfields Recreation Ground. The plans support objectives to encourage low-carbon, healthier and more inclusive travel options by enabling a complete safer cycling route between Weybridge town centre and Weybridge Station.

Specifically, the double yellow lines extension on Brooklands Lane is needed in order to provide an unobstructed entrance with unrestricted visibility to the new cycle path along Heath Road from Brooklands Lane. This will make it easier for cyclists travelling from Weybridge town centre to join the new cycle path and vice-versa.

Double yellow lines extensions are also needed on Waverley Road to improve visibility into and mitigate conflict with oncoming vehicles as cyclists enter Waverley Road from the junction with Heath Road.

Road Table in Heath Road and Brooklands Lane

To slow traffic speeds at this location to provide a safer and improved environment for pedestrians and cyclists to cross Heath Road.

The road table would specifically provide a safer place for on-road cyclists to cross Heath Road, travelling between the Brooklands Lane entrance/exit of the new path along Heath Road, and a signed ‘quiets road’ route planned through to Weybridge town centre via Waverley Road, Melrose Road and the town paths adjacent to Churchfields Recreation Ground.
