Park Road, Banstead 40mph Speed Limit Proposal

Closed 3 Dec 2020

Overview

Thank you for your interest in our 40mph speed limit proposal in Park Road, Banstead.

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The proposal:

It is proposed to reduce the existing speed limit of 60mph to a 40mph speed limit on Park Road between the existing 30mph limit on Holly Lane and the existing 30mph limit on Park Road, which is 727m from the junction with Holly Lane.

Local residents raised concerns about the speed of traffic on the Park Road in the Banstead, Woodmansterne and Chipstead division with their divisional member.  A speed limit assessment has been carried out on Park Road following the processes set out in Surrey County Council’s Policy Setting Local Speed Limits.    A reduction of the speed limit on Park Road between the existing 30mph on Holly Lane to the existing 30mph limit on Park Road (727m from the junction with Holly Lane) complies with the policy and is supported by the Police. Reigate and Banstead Local Committee agreed at their meeting on 2 March 2020 that the speed limit on Park Road between the existing 30mph speed limit on Holly Lane and the existing 30mph on Park Road (727m from the junction with Holly Lane) be reduced to 40mph.
