Upper Hale Road, Farnham traffic calming measures

Closed 3 Jan 2022

Opened 25 Nov 2021

Overview

Thank you for your interest in our 20mph speed limit proposals in Upper Hale Road, Farnham

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The proposal:

The proposed road cushions will improve road safety for users on Upper Hale Road, including pupils from local schools. Concerns relating to speeding and road safety were initially identified through engagement with Councillors and members of the public. Assessments have been undertaken of the existing traffic behaviours on Upper Hale Road, the existing mean speeds are in excess of 24mph to the east of the Alma Lane junction.

In line with Surrey County Council’s Setting Local Speed Limits Policy, which is based on national guidance, it has been identified that physical traffic calming measures would be required to reduce mean vehicle speeds to an appropriate level for the reduced speed limit of 20mph.
