Overview

Thank you for your interest in our 20mph speed limit proposals in Chipstead

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The proposal:

Surrey County Council propose to make the above-named Order, under Section 84 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended) and of all other enabling powers, the effect of which will be to: - 1. Impose a maximum speed limit of 20 miles per hour on the lengths of roads specified and described in the Schedule to this Notice. 2. The “Reigate and Banstead Borough Council The Borough of Reigate and Banstead (Various Roads in Chipstead)(Restricted Roads and 40 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit)Order 1997” shall be amended so shall have effect as though those Parts to the First Schedule that restricts the maximum speed limit to 30MPH in the lengths of and/or part of the lengths of C136 High Road, C136 Coulsdon Lane, C137 Hazelwood Lane, D1079 Bouverie Road, D1079 Highwold, D1079 Lissoms Road, D1079 Hollymead Road, D1080 How Lane, D1080 Yew Tree Close, D1083 Walpole Avenue, D1083 Doghurst Lane, D1084 Starrock Lane, D1084 Vincents Close and D1151 Castle Road specified and described in the First Schedule to this Notice, shall be revoked.
