Overview

Thank you for your interest in our Provision of a raised crossing proposals in Waterside Drive, Walton-On-Thames.

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The proposal:

Statement of Reasons for Traffic Calming in Waterside Drive

Traffic calming in Waterside Drive is proposed as part of the planning application for the new secondary school Walton Heathside, Waterside Drive. The proposals include two Raised Tiger Crossings that will allow for cyclists and pedestrians to cross Waterside Drive safely whist also reducing traffic speeds. The table proposed at the junction of Waterside Drive and Terrace Road will provide a safe crossing point at the junction and introduce slower speeds at the junction.

These features will support the requirement for a lower speed limit outside the new school of 20mph
