Overview

Surrey County Council would like your views on proposed changes to admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools for September 2024.

The consultation on these proposals will run from Wednesday 5 October 2022 to Wednesday 16 November 2022.

Only response forms which are fully completed with the respondent's name and address will be accepted to help eliminate multiple responses and to assess the level of local interest in each proposal.

A full summary of the changes and a copy of the proposed admission arrangements for all community and voluntary controlled schools are set out in the 'Related documents' below.

For further information on how the data you provide will be used, please read the privacy notice section of our website: www.surreycc.gov.uk/your-council/your-privacy. By submitting the survey you indicate that you have considered the privacy notice and agree to take part.

Why your views matter

We have a statutory duty to consult on admission arrangements if we intend to make a change.

The changes being proposed are as follows:

  1. Southfield Park Primary School (Epsom & Ewell) extension of the catchment area to include the Parkview estate, as a replacement for priority on the basis of ‘nearest school’ and amendment of the tie breaker within catchment so that children living closer to the school receive higher priority
  2. Stamford Green Primary School (Epsom & Ewell) introduction of a catchment area to replace priority on the basis of ‘nearest school’
  3. Beauclerc Infant School (Spelthorne) – reduction in published admission number for Reception from 40 to 30
  4. Farncombe Infant School (Waverley– reduction of published admission number for Reception from 50 to 30
  5. St Ann’s Heath Junior School (Runnymede) – reduction of published admission number for Year 3 from 90 to 60 and removal of Meadowcroft Infant School as a feeder school (subject to it being agreed for Meadowcroft Infant School to become an all through primary school from September 2024)

What happens next

Thank you for taking the time to respond to the consultation on admission arrangements for 2024.

After the closing date, responses will be collated and presented to the County Council's decision making Cabinet on 31 January 2023. It will decide whether or not to proceed with the proposed changes as well as determining the admission arrangements for all community and voluntary controlled schools for which no changes are proposed. Cabinet’s decision will then need to be ratified by the full County Council on 7 February 2023. Once determined the final admission arrangements for all community and voluntary controlled schools will be placed on Surrey's website at www.surreycc.gov.uk/admissions
