Heathside School

Overview

Surrey County Council and Heathside School have been working together to look at the increasing demand for secondary school places in Elmbridge and how the school can best meet these changing needs in the future.

Our proposal is that Heathside School changes from seven-form entry secondary school to an eight-form entry secondary school. The school in its new form would be designed to serve children across the Weybridge area.

We are proposing that these changes start to take place from September 2016. This would mean that for a period of time the school will grow incrementally starting with Year 7 in 2016, and would be at its capacity (1430) with eight forms of entry in every year group by 2020.

The school site covers 48,230 square metres, which is considered large enough to support eight forms of entry with some careful design.  More classrooms would be provided and architects would consider providing additional specialist accommodation and maximising use of space and improving circulation around the buildings and campus.
