Surrey Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment

Closed 31 Dec 2014

Opened 22 Sep 2014

Overview

From the 1st April 2013 Health and Wellbeing Boards (HWB) have a statutory responsibility to publish and keep up-to-date the Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA). The PNA provides a statement of need for pharmaceutical services for the population of its area.

The PNA aims to review the current pharmaceutical services for Surrey and identify any gaps in provision through assessment, consultation and analysis of local need.

The PNA is a key document that will be used by;

  • NHS England to inform decisions regarding applications for new or changes to existing pharmaceutical services;
  • NHS England to make decisions in the commissioning of NHS-funded services that can be provided by local community pharmacies;
  • Local Authorities (LAs) and Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) when commissioning services to meet local health needs and priorities.

How to take part

After reading the draft PNA below, please complete the confidential questionnaire. You will be asked in the questionnaire whether you are responding as a member of the public, a health and social care professional, as a sole trader or on behalf of a business or organisation- please bear this in mind when giving your response. The questionnaire is available to complete online or you can download a print version below.

The draft PNA will be available from 22 September 2014 to 31 December 2014.

If you require a free of charge paper copy of the draft PNA or would like a freepost paper version of the questionnaire, please contact public.health@surreycc.gov.uk or Hannah Bishop on 01737 737104 or Navjit Dondi on 020 8213 2785; a copy will be posted out to you within 14 days.

Why your views matter

The PNA aims to review the current pharmaceutical services in Surrey and identify any gaps in provision through assessment, consultation and analysis of local need.

We want to ensure that the PNA fully covers all of the issues you think are important, therefore you are invited to view and comment on Surrey HWB’s draft PNA to inform the final version which will be published in April 2015.

What happens next

The feedback from this consultation will influence changes made to the Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment document before it is approved by the Surrey Health and Wellbeing Board and published on Surreyi; www.surreyi.gov.uk in April 2015.
