Overview

Thank you for your interest in our Proposed 40mph speed limit on the A30 London Road Camberley.

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The proposal:

Residents and the Divisional Member have raised concerns about vehicle speeds, road safety, and the appropriateness of the existing 50mph speed limit along the section of the A30 London Road (Camberley) between Knightsbridge Road and a point 65m east of Little Paddock. Either side of this length, London Road is subject to a lower 40mph speed limit.

In response to the concerns raised, a speed limit assessment has been completed in accordance with Surrey County Council’s Setting Local Speed Limits policy. As part of this process, speed surveys were carried out at various locations in each of the roads.

The findings of the assessment indicate the proposed reduction in speed limit from 50mph to 40mph over the section of the A30 shown on the attached plans is appropriate, and Surrey Police has confirmed it has no objections to the proposal.
The proposed reduction in speed limit will help improve road safety and will ensure that a more consistent speed limit applies over this section of the A30 London Road.
