Beldam Bridge Road, West End - 30mph Speed Limit Proposal

Closed 22 Oct 2021

Overview

Thank you for your interest in our 30mph Speed Limit proposals in Beldam Bridge Road, West End.

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The proposal:

As part of a development of 85 dwellings on land north of Beldam Bridge Road, West End (Planning Ref 16/0323) a planning obligation was placed on the developer to implement a scheme to revise the speed limit on Beldam Bridge Road with the aim of reducing vehicle speeds in the interests of highway safety. The proposed scheme is to extend the 30mph speed limit outwards from West End village to the east of the access to the new development at Beldam Bridge Gardens. This would be consistent with a new gateway feature to be provided. The existing speed limit on Beldam Bridge Road varies from 30mph nearest to the village centre and 40mph on the approach to the village from the east.

The changepoint for the 30mph speed limit is currently set 14m east of the centre line of Kings Road. The new change point will be set at a point 158m east of the centre line of Kings Road.
