Foreman Road and White Lane Ash - Proposed Speed Limit Reduction

Closed 26 Feb 2021

Opened 29 Jan 2021

Overview

Thank you for your interest in our Proposed Speed Limit Reduction in Foreman Road and White Lane, Ash.

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The proposal:

Foreman Road is a C-class road subject to a 40mph speed limit. White Lane is a C-class road subject to a 40mph speed limit. There are a number of residential developments being implemented along Foreman Road and White Lane which will result in an increase of pedestrians and cyclists. The nature of the area is changing to it is deemed suitable to reduce the speed limit from 40mph to 30mph to improve safety for all users of the highway.

The extent of the speed limit reduction will be from the junction of Foreman Road with Guildford Road to 70m south of Warren Farm on White Lane. The change in speed limit is in accordance with SCC’s Speed Limit Policy.

As a result of the works described in the first paragraph above, the existing speed limit will be changed, this will require a Speed Limit Order to be made under Section 81, 82, 83 and 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 until the works have been completed.
