Grange Road Ashtead - Proposed Traffic Calming Measures

Closed 20 Jun 2024

Opened 23 May 2024

Overview

Thank you for your interest in our Traffic Calming Proposals proposals on Grange Road, Ashtead.

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The proposal:

One of the road safety improvement schemes funded from the current financial year is the installation of traffic calming measures in Grange Road and the creation of a 20mph zone in Grange Road, a certain length of Ottways Lane, Harriotts Lane and Taleworth Road.

Several site meetings were taken place by Surrey Highways Officers to investigate the current road safety issues. The scheme has been developed in response to concerns raised by the County Councillor regarding vehicle speeds along D2575 Grange Road, D2575 Ottways Lane and D2584 Harriotts Lane.

Speed limits can help to reduce accidents and improve safety for all road users. It has been shown that the slower a vehicle is travelling, then the less likelihood there is of a serious or fatal injury occurring. It is expected that the creation of a 20mph zone will contribute to improving road safety and the environment in the vicinity, particularly near the schools
