Overview

Thank you for your interest in our Provision of a Pedex Pedestrian Crossing proposals in Upper Chobham Road, Frimley.

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The Proposal

For some time, parents have been raising concerns about safety when crossing Upper Chobham Road near the pedestrian gate for Ravenscote School.

In response to these concerns a series of measures have previously been introduced.  These have included the installation of a road table at the existing uncontrolled crossing point, together with a pair of speed cushions on either approach to the table.  Whilst these measures have helped reduce vehicle speeds, parents have continued to raise concerns about safety when crossing at the location.

A further comprehensive assessment of safety has therefore been undertaken.  As a result of the findings of the assessment, the installation of a signal-controlled pedestrian crossing has now been proposed as part of our Road Safety Outside Schools programme.  The crossing will be located on the existing road table, as shown in the attached plan.
