Overview

Thank you for your interest in our 20mph speed limit proposals in Ewell

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The proposal:

The proposed speed limit adjustment is to encourage lower vehicle speeds and reduce the severity of collisions by lowering the speed limit from 30mph to 20mph.  Local representation has suggested that a reduction in speed of traffic through the area would be beneficial in terms of promoting safer roads and is supported by the local community.  

This scheme is being promoted to help improve road safety and accessibility for all road users, including pedestrians and cyclists accessing Riverview CofE Primary School.

Speed surveys were commissioned, and the results were compliant with Surrey County Council’s Setting Local Speed Limits Policy for a 20mph speed limit.
