Overview

Thank you for your interest in our Speed Limit Reduction proposals in Various Roads in Guildford.

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The proposal:

Following concerns raised by local residents regarding vehicles speeding in Recreation Road and the surrounding area, it is proposed to reduce the speed limit to 20mph in the following roads

• Recreation Road
• Linden Road
• Chestnut Road
• Sycamore Road
• Acacia Road
• Stoke Road (service roads)
• Josephs Road
• Langley Close
• Springside Court
• Stocton Road

Speed surveys were carried out to investigate the existing average mean speed of vehicles using these roads. The results showed that the average mean speeds comply with Surrey County Council’s Speed Limit Policy for a 20mph speed limit using signs alone.

Funding has now been identified for the installation of the proposed 20mph speed limit and 20mph signs and road markings will be installed to support the 20mph speed limit on the above identified roads.

Delegated approval to proceed with these proposals and the associated TRO was received from the Highways Engagement & Commissioning Manager 01 December 2022.

If you would like to object, support, or comment on the proposal, please use the Online Survey linked at the bottom of the page, or alternatively, write to:
