Overview

Thank you for your interest in our Speed Limit Reduction proposals in Various Roads in Reigate.

The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.

The proposal:

It is proposed to reduce the existing speed limit of 30mph to a 20mph speed limit on D1252 Holmesdale Road, D1215 Warren Road, D1215 Mark Street, D1211 Birkheads Road, D1215 Oak Road, D1211 Alma Road, D1211 Beverley Heights, D1214 Wray Park Road (part).

This proposal has been developed following concerns raised by residents regarding the safety of Holmesdale Road, particularly due to the presence of a nursery on this road and that it provides a route to other schools in the area. Following a meeting held with residents of Holmesdale Road and the county councillor, it was decided to investigate the possibility of reducing the speed limit on this road as well as several others in close proximity, many of which already have traffic calming measures in place.

As a result, speed surveys were carried out on Holmesdale Road as well as other roads in the vicinity, including Alma Road which provides access to Holmesdale Infant School, and Wray Park Road which provides access to Brooklands School.

The results of these surveys showed that the following roads complied with Surrey County Council’s Policy “Setting Local Speed Limits”, for a 20mph speed limit;

• D1252 Holmesdale Road
• D1215 Warren Road
• D1215 Mark Street
• D1211 Birkheads Road
• D1215 Oak Road
• D1211 Alma Road
• D1211 Beverley Heights
• D1214 Wray Park Road (from the junction with Alma Road to the junction with Brightlands Road)

If you would like to object, support, or comment on the proposal, please use the Online Survey linked at the bottom of the page, or alternatively, write to:
