Wider Staines Sustainable Transport Package - A308 London Road Staines
Overview
Thank you for your interest in our proposals in A308 London Road, Staines.
The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.
The proposal:
A308 High Street / London Road
The A308 London Road scheme involves the construction of a new shared use pedestrian and cycle route between Staines town centre and the Crooked Billet Roundabout in Staines. The scope of works includes the creation of new parking bays opposite Greenlands Road (i.e. in front of 123-145 London Road) as shown in plan no. SCCLR308-ATK-HMK-XX-DR-CH-000004.
On occasions when the proposed parking bays are full, drivers may attempt to park vehicles within the areas of proposed hatched markings at the eastern and western extents of the proposed parking bays. Vehicles overhanging the extent of the proposed hatching are at risk of conflict with eastbound A308 London Road traffic. Also, drivers attempting reverse parking manoeuvres into the proposed hatched marking areas, especially at the eastern extent (i.e. adjacent to the signal stop line) are at risk of conflict with following eastbound drivers who may not expect such manoeuvres when an empty parking bay is not evident. Therefore, the purpose of the parking restrictions is to prevent vehicles from parking at the eastern and western ends of the proposed parking bays at any time.
