Woking Road, Guildford - Proposed Provision of a Toucan Crossing
Overview
Thank you for your interest in our toucan crossing proposals on Woking Road, Guildford.
The legislation we must follow before introducing this scheme means that we need to allow objections and comments from the public to be considered before a final decision is reached about whether or not to go ahead with our preferred scheme in its current form.
The proposal:
The Weyside Uban Village (WUV) development proposes the erection of 1,550 dwellings, with a community building to the south and commercial units to the north. With associated road network infrastructure (both within the site and including off-site highways improvements), footways, cycleways and provision of a bus route.
To facilitate pedestrian and cyclist movements for those travelling to/from the site via foot and bike, the existing crossing point will be upgraded to provide a toucan crossing, allowing movement between Fir Tree Road and Woking Road, and beyond. The toucan crossing will provide a safer crossing point for all users.
